Bicycle insurance built around riders

Traditional insurance usually asks you to pay a fixed premium, regardless of how many claims are made. Laka takes a different approach. Its bicycle insurance is built around a Collective. Each month, contributions reflect the claims made across the Collective, while your personal maximum monthly price remains capped. When fewer claims are made, the amount charged can be lower for everyone—but you will never pay more than your personal cap.

There is no 12-month contract, and you can switch between the available cover levels as your needs change. It is a flexible approach designed to fit the way people actually ride.

Clear protection without unnecessary complexity

Laka offers two straightforward levels of bicycle cover. Core focuses on theft protection at home and while you are out and about. Complete includes the benefits of Core and adds protection against crashes, accidental damage and intentional damage caused by others. It also provides up to £200 towards getting you home after an accident or theft. Depending on the selected plan, cover can also include legal assistance following a non-fault accident, third-party cycling liability and participation in eligible sportives and events that do not require a racing licence.

Bike claims are handled without an excess and with zero depreciation, subject to the applicable policy terms. This means that eligible claims are not reduced simply because your bicycle has become older. Every claim is handled by Laka’s specialist in-house team, which supports riders throughout the process.

Extra flexibility when your rides take you further

Your cycling plans may change with the seasons, holidays or new adventures. Laka therefore offers optional add-ons that can be activated for a minimum of 30 days. The Travel add-on provides worldwide accidental damage protection for your bicycle, equipment and accessories for up to 120 consecutive days. The Race add-on provides cover for eligible races that require a valid racing licence, including certain road, criterium, circuit and cyclocross events.

Eligible additional bicycles in the same household that are used by family members can also receive a 50% discount.
